Jumper Joy: Indulging my knitwear addiction!
September is now well under way, the children have settled back in to school and there is a definite chill in the air. Being British and living my entire life in England, it is very hard not to focus on the weather. I hate saying goodbye to the summer, and dread to think of the long, cold months that loom ahead. Thankfully, autumn wardrobes get me very excited. Autumn is my favourite season for fashion and I get inspired thinking of the beautiful pieces I will invest in to see me through to the spring. Out come the chunky knits, ankle boots and cashmere socks and my fashion mind is onto layering. Knitwear, paired with straight leg jeans and trainers, is perfect for this time of the year to counter the early morning chill and, as the temperatures drop, can be layered up in all manner of combinations. In my opinion, you really can never have enough knitwear!
Our autumn/winter collections have been coming in thick and fast over the past few weeks, and here is my pick of the best knitwear in Gerrards right now.
Anyone who knows me, will be well aware that I dress quite minimally in mostly greys and blacks, but I love this lurex jacquard pullover by Maison Scotch. I have a pinterest board titled ‘The Daring Me’ where I post all the pieces that I love but shy away from, and this would definitely feature on that board. ‘The Daring Me’ would pair it Gucci AW16 style with a pleated midi skirt, while the normal me would wear it with my favourite jeans and brown ankle boots.
Maison Scotch Lurex Jacquard Pullover £189.
This two tone knit silver / tomato red colour block knit from Charli is crafted in 100% soft cashmere and has a slightly relaxed silhouette. Wear it with our Paige grey skinnies or layered up with a classic shirt, tailored trousers and trainers for an effortlessly chic look. Hot tip; invest in this colour now as it is going to be huge for next season.
Charli Cashmere Colour Block Knit £195.
I never tire of black and white, or stripes for that matter, and this knit from Suncoo is at the top of my wish list for autumn. Wear it with denim now, or layered under a military jacket with black skirt and tights as the weather cools.
Suncoo Striped Knit £89.
Another favourite of mine from Maison Scotch this season is this short knitted cardigan. With a bold mix of colours and a cropped bomber jacket style, this is definitely another piece for my ‘daring me’ board and would work equally well with jeans and black trainers as it would with a midi skirt.
Maison Scotch Cardigan £150.
This super soft, taupe polo neck from Harris Wilson is so versatile and can be worn in a multitude of ways as the temperature varies over the coming months. Wear it with boyfriend jeans and white trainers, skinny jeans and calf hair, leopard print boots or our beautiful pleated silk skirt from Maison Scotch and Emma Go brogues.
